[ location: bronte beach ] let that igloo cooler mark your piece of paradise.

Word has it, Taxon, that there's going to be a party. These rumors are not untrue, for one [livejournal.com profile] slaying has arranged something of a get together for the Fourth of July. Unfortunately, the Extras have caught wind of this soirée and are already in the presence of crashing it, rocking those holey jeans and chilling with some Lynyrd Skynyrd and good ol' Hank Williams. This is their kind of party.

Don't let them have all the fun. The sun is getting low, so get on out here and get your party on before fireworks start lighting up the faux night sky.

Yeah. [ she nods, glancing at it. ] Never seen an ocean before?

Jason's no babysitter, but the idea of a child running into the wild expanse of sea with no lifeguard around bothers him. He knows firsthand how quickly the tide can pull someone away.

"Well I can't make you do nothin', but there's plenty of room to swim if you change your mind." Jason continues toward the shore. The boy isn't his responsibility, but he'll personally make sure the kid has someone to look after him if he does decide to put that swimsuit to use.

River is weaving in and out of the party, barefoot and aimless. She starts around the edges, moves in, moves out, ends up knee-deep in the surf, then wanders back. Not always in that order, though the general process is repeated.

She's managed to make herself very run-into-able, both in the social and the literal tripping sense.

She looked around herself at all of the people running around almost stark naked. There was a look of discomfort across her face, and she shifted uneasily where she stood. Still, it seemed she really was the only one around who had any problem with the situation.

Eowyn gazed back at the young woman before her, giving her a disapproving look. "Such games are reserved only for children. Is there no sense of shame left in men?"

Behind that curtain of dark hair Dick's eyebrows arch; his mouth acquires a skeptical bent. Sometimes it seems like everybody here is either saying things he doesn't understand or things so obvious they make him doubt his understanding.

He waits for the man to start toward the water then resumes running, feet pounding out a wide arc that takes him away from other beachgoers and into the beckoning waves.

"I don't think I have," Glitch replied, then formed a circle by waving the frisbee around. "The O.Z.'s got deserts on all sides, and...there's other countries on the other side of them and they're on an ocean but I I don't think I've been there."

He tilted his head and gave her a grin. "Was there an ocean where you're from? There's not one in Kansas."

As if this were news. Yes, he still thinks Kansas is the most sacred and wonderful place in the Otherside.

Dawn is wearing a bikini Buffy did not see her leave the house in, thank you very much. The cut-offs over it make it modest, right? (Protip: they don't.)

She'll just be wandering around now, a bottle of something colorful and fizzy and non-alcoholic in hand. Troll away.

[DG didn't have any experience of the ocean either, having been born in a land locked kingdom and raised in a land locked state. But she was naturally curious and, by the time Glitch reached the beach, DG was already paddling in the shallow water.

She splashed her way out to greet him when he approached, brushing her hair - damp with spray - out of her face.

"Not long, no," Stefan answers as he slides an arm around her waist, pulling her in up against his side. He kisses her temple. "Today we are just two ordinary teenagers enjoying a party on the beach."

Shock of all shocks: Faith Lehane owns a bathing suit. And it's a one piece. Don't even ask.

...She has jeans and a wife beater over it, though, so at least the entire world isn't topsy turvy. She's also consuming a bag of chips she stole off a table.

"You invite all the creepy people, or they just gatecrash?" Says the gatecrasher.

"Um... kind of?" Willow frowns. She can't really remember the last time she went to a beach - maybe when she was really little with Xander and her parents or something - but she knows it exists kind of around the Sunnydale corner. "I know there's one kinda close to Sunnydale, but the last time I was there..." She shrugs. "It's kinda hard to remember when everything Taxony is getting in the way, too."

Willow grins proudly. "I-I hope so! I tried to do some special ones, so, uh... hopefully they'll work out okay."

She's feeling a bit excited, though, and she can't help that.

"How are you feeling? Excited enough about a party that's gonna rock?"

And the only thing that could make this better in Willow's eyes was if Tara were here, too. And Xander.
slayersidekick: (you can't be serious... // bad idea)

Well the literal tripping sense is what happens this time as Willow turns at just the wrong moment and goes SMASHING into her. And promptly falls to the sandy ground.

"Ow! S-sorry!"

Dusk. That was when Buffy had suggested for the fireworks to be set off. Willow hadn't really announced much of her plans outside the "STAY AWAY FROM THE FIREWORKS" yelling she occasionally had to do - mostly for the Extras. Good thing her barriers were working.

Once dusk falls, Willow starts making her way down to the fireworks area. She's not sure if anyone's going to take notice, but hey, she can summon them all with a rousing first round. Kneeling down, she releases one of the smaller ones, watching it jet up into the night sky with a loud whistle - dimmed by the magic she's got cast around to... prevent hearing damage. This firework left a spiral of red sparkles trailing through the air behind it. Once it was high enough, it exploded into one of the traditional shimmery ones.

The others are much like the normal fireworks from home, but she's managed to spell some to be much better. Some explode into other sparkly figures - there's even a couple of animals and that might just have been a dragon up there - and some make the whole sky light up. It's all perfectly safe and Willow will be camping out by the fireworks stash, setting them off periodically through the evening.

[ ooc: here are the fireworks! if you guys want to treat this as another party thread opportunity, feel free to tag in and amongst each other while observing the fireworks! willow won't tag anyone back here unless you / they specifically call for her, so feel free to mingle and have fun observing the fireworks :3 willow's gone all-out for these, so if you have an idea and want to implement it, go for it! ]

"Liz, actually," she responds. She hadn't expected the anthropologist to remember her name. Liz may be good with names, but not everyone was. Not everyone had the experience of working in a small town diner where tourists expected you to remember them the next day and tipped better if you did. "We spoke over the tablets once, about your iguana?"

Katherine smiles as Stefan pulls her closer by the waist and brushes his lips against her temple. She lifts her hand to his jaw and tilts his head gently so that she may lean in and kiss him properly, a light but lingering press of her lips against his.

"That's what an ordinary teenage girl would do when meeting her boyfriend, I believe," she grins playfully, pulling back a little. Not that she would need that excuse to kiss him, but details.

"You know what else ordinary teenage girls do with the boyfriends at the beach?" Without giving her time to respond, Stefan stands up and takes hold of one of her hands, pulling her up with him. "Swim."

And then he's letting go, kicking off his shoes and ditching that shirt and his sunglasses, running for the water as as full of a speed as he can without tapping into that which is a little less than human.

Oh.

Hello, girl in a bikini.

It takes Connor several moments of staring before said girl-in-a-bikini registers as Dawn. He himself is wearing a pair of shorts and not much else, aside from a pair of uncharacteristically bright-orange flip-flops and a flimsy tank top to keep himself from burning.

He colors slightly as Dawn approaches, rubbing nervously at the back of his neck.

"H-hey."

[identity profile] tothelibrary.livejournal.com 2011-07-14 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
"Connor!" Dawn's a summer kind of person, in general; the chance to barbecue on the beach and maybe take a swim has her cheeks a little pinker than usual, puts an extra bounce in her step. It also means that Connor is getting snatched into a hug, which only ends when Dawn steps back and blushes, tucking hair behind her ears to give suddenly fidgety hands something to do.

"Hi."

[identity profile] whoneedsrules.livejournal.com 2011-07-14 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
Chuckling, Katherine pulls off the cover-up dress and tosses her sunglasses somewhere in the general vicinity of her bag, making sure her hair is pulled back securely as she makes her way over to the water more sedately than Stefan did. The water feels a little warmer than she'd expected it to, the soft sand shifting under her feet.

"Do you think there's actually anything alive in here," she wonders idly, wading deeper into the surf. "Fish or something. I'd rather not get nibbled on by a shark."

There's an amused lilt to her tone, but whether it's because of the unlikeliness of the scenario or because the shark might probably end up being the underdog in that match is debatable.

[identity profile] eggplantgout.livejournal.com 2011-07-14 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Jason has been on the receiving end many of those looks, though he's a little surprised that this time it came from a kid. Maybe Jason was dumber than he thought.

He shrugs it off and runs into the water himself, diving headfirst into the waves as soon as the water is high enough.

Stefan pulls her to him, putting his lips to her ear. "I think we can take the shark," he whispers. After all, they were the superior predators and as uncomfortable as Stefan would probably always be with being a predator, there was no denying that vampires held a certain advantage over most. He'd never tried it, but he was certain that even in water, they would be faster than the beasts that inhabited it, nevermind stronger.

He hides his face in the crook of her neck and, under the guise of lovingly nuzzling his girlfriend, bites her pulse point, fangs and all.

[identity profile] whoneedsrules.livejournal.com 2011-07-14 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Katherine inhales sharply at the sensation, pain mixing in with an undeniable flash of pleasure. Arms wrapped about Stefan's middle, her short nails bite into his lower back a bit rougher than necessary in response. She inclines her head just a fraction to allow Stefan better access, tossing a quick glance towards the beach - thankfully, everyone else seems more interested in the party than two cavorting teens in the water.

"Mm, I think that's straying from the ordinary teenager thing a little," she says, but the words come out breathlessly and on a tail-end of a husky chuckle, indicating that she doesn't exactly mind it.
