02 [Location: Castle Summers ] - Moving Day!

Buffy invited Spike to live in the castle.

So, here he is, at the castle door. Maybe he should have checked the tablet thingy to see if Buffy was here before he showed up but he didn't exactly have a lot of things to pack. In fact, he has a suitcase that seems to have had a hard time recently and nothing else.

So, does anyone hear it if you knock on a castle door? He hasn't been in a castle in a significant number of years and doesn't recall having knocked when he was in on last. He needs a cigarette in the worst way.

"Ri--right, nothing then, nothing at-- I suppose you're here to move in?" Time to talk about something else!

[loves_bitch]

"As long as the offer is still good, I am. I don't have too much to move." Spike smiles at her, looking toward the horizon, as if to make sure that the sun isn't surprisingly and suddenly rising there. It shouldn't be but he's trying not to take anything for granted around here.

[buffy_slayer]

"Course it is."

She catches his glance back as she opens the front door.

"What do you have in the suitcase anyways? Those fabulous threads you had on earlier?"

[loves_bitch]

"The new actually fabulous threads I've picked up while I'm here. I thought it might be time to dress up a little more again." He goes in and out of wanting to wear shirts with buttons. Sometimes it is worth the effort to look nicer.

He approaches the threshold but doesn't cross it, "It'd be nice to have a few rooms to m'self."

"We've got a few extra to spare, I think."

Buffy turns back to look at him, standing on the other side of the door. She's a little curious...

"I have to wonder if the same rules apply here to vamps and dwellings."

Spike gives Buffy a brief look. He's not too fond of the bone deep rejection that comes from trying to cross a threshold uninvited but he takes a step forward nonetheless. He feels the jarring sensation that comes of trying to cross over, though it is different than it used to be. It feels like, maybe, his soul could cross over - even if the rest of him has a hard time with it.

"Seems they do, pet."

Buffy grimaces, feeling a thin thread of guilt. It didn't look comfortable.

"Come on in, then. I...I didn't mean to make you feel unwelcome."

[loves_bitch]

"Not at all. Though I can't say that I know how the others in the city will react. We all have different reactions to the food, so likelywe'll have different reactions to other things."

Spike presses in over where the threshold is. He can still feel it but it is different - pliable.

"Oh. The food. Right."

And by that he meant blood, of course, and that wasn't something that she had considered at all.

"What are you planning on doing about that?"

[loves_bitch]

"I haven't figured it out. I can survive on what comes out of the hatch things. I haven't tried an Extra yet but I'm not too keen on the idea." After all, when he was last feeding off of people, he was also hunting them. It isn't really something he wants to go back to in the current circumstances.

[buffy_slayer]

"I don't know how the hamsters would feel about that, to be honest. Um, let's take you to your bedroom. Rooms. Your rooms."

He can probably see the blush start up before she turns abruptly, to head towards the stairs.

"I don't know either but since they're supposed to react like normal people, I imagine there would be some flailing and shrieking and romping about all shirty." Spike follows her toward the stairs, a smirk on his face for a few brief moments.

"You got somethin' picked out for me?"

Oh that Spike, he's a helper.

Not looking back, not looking back, no way.

"There's a bunch of rooms up here, which means you get to pick your own."

She'll make sure he doesn't pick hers.

He wouldn't want to live in her room. Stay for awhile, sure, but he does want a room or five of his own. "Oh good. I'm looking forward to trying a number of different beds until I find one I like."

This is just too easy, even if he's being entirely serious about what he's saying.

[buffy_slayer]

"Oh, I'm sure there's a few that you could try... out..." Oh, she might as well give this one up.

"I really am not helping myself out at all, am I."

[loves_bitch]

"Not much, pet. I can't help myself when you make it that simple. I'm a bad, bad man."

He's an amused man, certainly.

[buffy_slayer]

"And you don't sound sorry at all." Her tone is amused, like she doesn't necessarily mind that he isn't.

"Maybe a little bit."

He peeks into a room as they go by it, trying to determine where in the structure of the place they are and what the rooms look like.

[buffy_slayer]

"Mm hmm." She just shakes her head and continues down the hall. Room after room, and after the end of it there's a stairwell up to presumably even more space.

Buffy stops here to turn and look at him.

"Anything here strike your fancy?"

Spike turns from looking into one of the rooms to look at her.

And it isn't long before that look turns into a look. "Always has, pet."

He gives that a few beats to let that sink in before he continues on, "But if you're talking about rooms, I could make do with the linked pair back there."

Buffy just smiles slightly in return, from where she's leaning up against the wall. She might have said that on purpose, and there's a certain readiness in her stance, like she's prepared to meet him in the middle.

"Rooms. Right. You should have all the necessary furniture bits in there. Possibly even a vanity table!"

[loves_bitch]

"And we all know how I like to take my time prettying up in the morning." Spike makes his way over to her and leans in toward her. He's going to go into the room next to her.

Really.

Of course he is, and Buffy doesn't move an inch.

He's got plenty of room to get there, after all.

He isn't sure how to react to the lack of a reaction. It isn't discouraging or running away but it isn't encouraging and asking him to sweep her off of her feet, either. Reaching up, he tucks strands of hair behind her ear, smiling softly down at her.

"We're... probably going to want to talk about this if you're going to be living here."

It's not that she's necessarily adverse to this, especially considering how things had been going back in Vegas.

But this is different. Somehow.
