12 [Location: Central/Josef's place] Party Post

Entrances had been made. The people of Taxon, some of them at least, had arrived. As the sun was setting and casting the room into shadows, the lights began to come up. Twinkling white lights on the balcony around the pool, mood lighting throughout the room to separate the loft into differing areas for different events. Light music played throughout the main room, though at poolside was a section set aside for dancing as well.

Pausing to overlook the affair, for a moment, Josef felt like he was still back home.

Well, minus the bevy of beautiful women offering up a vein at the snap of his fingers. He was still getting used to that loss, which hurt more keenly than most.

((ooc: Come one, come all. Feel free to set up your own posts or use the starter areas. Josef's place is a massive loft, with three separate rooms including a bedroom with an oversized freezer in it. There is also a rooftop pool area with a wide wall overlooking part of the city.))

"I've been a very wicked person before, Tony. Trust me, I'm no where near it right now," still, the smile on her lips seems to indicate that she can at least fake it pretty well.

"Everything, but dancing would be the safe answer."

"If you were wicked, then why worry about the dancing. You always have things to use to distract me," he said, open and forthright and watching her reaction.

"Oh I do, do I?"

Arching her brows at him, she moves along with him in time with the music, "I'm not very good at dancing, you see. It is sort of a new thing."

"That smile, your eyes, the words you use. I won't mention the body, even in that dress. Wait, I just did," he teased.

He moved carefully with the music, keeping her close. "So you'll do it more and learn."

"Why, Mr. Stark, I do believe you're flirting with me," Madelyne says. There is a moment where she almost adds, What would my husband say but she is able to hold herself back. The pang is hard to entirely ignore. Instead, she redoubles her... efforts?

She steps in a little closer, "I have to say I've always been interested in learning."

"Of course I am. Any man with half a brain would. Women too for that matter. You're beautiful and smart. What else should I do," he asked, arching a brow as he slid his arm further around her.

"Positively brilliant state of mind," he said with a nod, agreeing as he slowly twirled her.

The twirl comes just in time since she really had little idea on how to respond to all of /that/. When she comes spinning back close in to Tony, she's still smiling, though. "I don't know, Mr. Stark, I think you might be overstating my appeal to the average man on the street."

After a short pause, she chuckles, "Though I'm not interested in the average man on the street, especially here."

"Given the average man on the street in Taxon isn't actually human, I'm pretty sure you're so far above them to not even consider that," he pointed out with a chuckle.

"Now that's a little depressing, considering the options," she says with a faint smile. "My ex-husband and his best friend and rival are disqualified. Bagoas, Glitch and Raziel are, well, likely not at all interested in me..."

Madelyne ignores the memory of Alex that tries to creep into her thoughts more firmly. She locks it up and tucks it away as she continues to smile at Tony as they move to the music.

Tony made a face, trying to look put out. "Oh so we're not going to count Raziel just because he has no body? That's prejudice," he teased, and it was obvious he was teasing.

He nodded though, trying to be slightly more sympathetic. "Doesn't that leave out some," he asked, being serious. "There's Paul, whom I alienated day one. Don't forget Sherlock," he added, making a face.

"I don't think he's interested in people like that. And Paul... I'm not sure but he might be on that not interested list as well. I haven't really talked to him enough to know. And Jason is likely on that list as well because he's just not interested in /people/, either," Madelyne says faintly.

"And Sherlock... I don't know. His mind is an interesting place," Madelyne squeezes his shoulder, "But I'm sure you see the point, right?"

"He experiences joy though," he said, smiling fondly as he thought about the wind tunnel and Raziel's reaction to it. "Yeah, like I said, alienated Paul but I think we made up. He sounds like he was from the world I know, so really against pissing him off too much. "Not talked to Jason much. What about the vampire trio? There's three of them, right?"

He made a face. "Interesting. Annoying. I didn't know they were synonyms, but yes, I can see your point."

"There are and they're all different. I don't know most of them very well, though I've gotten to know Josef fairly well," she says with a small smile. She sways along to the music and with him.

Step, turn, spin, dip. He grinned at her, waggling his eyebrows. "Fairly well? Do I even want to ask? So many questions and everyone one of them wrong."

Madelyne arches back into the dip and looks up at him with a small smile, "We did go out on a date once."

[starknaked]

"With a vampire? Well then," he said, though he was still amused, laughing as he lifted her, turning into the next step. "I still have troubles with that, I admit. I mean... vampires?"

[genequeen]

"There are some at home - don't you have them? I hadn't met them but a friend of mine had a considerable amount of interaction over time. Josef is fun company."

[starknaked]

"No. No vampires. No mutants either. I'm entirely deprived in my world," he pointed out as the music ended. He stopped moving but didn't quite let her go. "If you're having fun, that's what matters."

[genequeen]

"I would say that isn't all that matters," she says as she leans in and kisses him lightly on the cheek. Madelyne pulls back just enough so he can see the small smile on her lips reach her eyes.

He frowned at her words though his eyes lit up at the kiss. Looking confused in that moment which was a look not often seen on him. "What matters then, Maddy?"

"Safety. Family. Sanity."

Those words are given to him relatively quickly in response, not moving away from him yet. "And if we're talking here and now, well, that you're having fun too."

"Not everyone has those things, not the way others do." He'd always had financial safety, but he was never safe. The near death moment with his own weapons had proven that.

"And I'm remembering why for most of my life all that I let matter was having fun, but most aren't as disconnected from their emotions like I am." In that he was very self aware.

"No, not everyone does. I don't, even. Not really," she says while looking around. Are they being looked and taking up dance floor space at or can they continue to talk out here? She makes sure they're still moving at least.

"It is easy to put fun first, to try not to take the world seriously. Sometimes, I think, you have to do that in order to stay sane."

In ways he hadn't before, Tony didn't care if they were being watched or not. It wasn't just that he was assuming that most would be watching them, it was that it didn't matter to him in that moment. Unless someone danced into them, he was too busy speaking with Maddy and sharing this.

"Some still don't manage sanity but you make do with what you have." Which is what he kept telling himself. All he could face.

Reaching up, Madelyne runs a thumb across his one of his cheekbones, something that she can't entirely explain why she felt she needed to do right at this moment. "I think you have more than enough sanity, Tony, but I could check to be sure. A lot of mental states is very subjective, you know."
