five | [Location: Levi's Mansion] | got my boots on, the right amount of leather

New Years Eve.

Levi is ready, decked out in his party suit, and a lot of makeup. He's just finished his preparations, and he's sitting in his living room, waiting patiently for Cordelia to arrive, and then the guests. Of course, the party isn't taking place in his living room. That's much too small for such a large event.

He's having a party in his basement.

His basement is huge, and he's decked it out in lights and such that he's hatched. All of it has a New Years theme, somehow; Levi's good at throwing parties, he knows how to decorate. The room is basically like a nightclub. It's dark, but clear of most beams and supports; there are couches and chairs, and a bar to the far end, stocked with just about every type of alcohol imaginable (as well as a few different types of blood). Here and there, there's potted plants and trees in clumps, as well as a giant throne, surrounded by those plants, further along on the back wall. There's also a large stage towards the middle, with a dancing space out in front of it. And right above the stage is a giant clock, which Levi had set up earlier for the countdown later that night.

As for music, he's got a whole playlist, just waiting to be started. It's a huge mix of things, from pop-y dance music to slow songs for the couples. There's a few setlists, of sorts, pinned to the walls and the bar.

It's about ten minutes before the party arrives, and Levi is waiting impatiently.

[[ooc: Vaguely organized planning post here! If there's a song you suggested and you want it to be played, it will be. Just handwave it. So yes! Have fun. :D

EDIT: Subthread labeled for the countdown to midnight is up! Grab your date and tag there for kissy tiemz. :3]

A few minutes later, Cordelia arrives wearing this (http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk166/zarahjoyce/charisma_carpenter_buffy_vampire_sl.jpg). She can't say she's not excited for the party - after all, it is a party, and parties are definitely within her range of 'beloved events ever'. She knocks on the door to be polite, and looks around to see if others have already arrived or not.

The suit had been hatched with the idea that it would entertain Chiana, but then Glitch remembered that she was gone. Long gone, even. But silver was still a good color, reminiscent of Nick Chopper's nickle plating and magic slippers and- okay, it matched the zipper, it was appropriate.

So he turned up at the party in the shiniest suit ever, smelling faintly of his fourth-wall gift, and tried to blend in. Good luck with that.

When the girls got their invitation, they hadn't debated long on whether or not to go. So they didn't know the names on the invite, but they were new. And they had to meet people somehow, so...

It had taken forever to figure out what they wanted to wear - those hatches equaled a massive variety to choose from - but had finally decided on something (http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j4/cnrward/Style%20and%20Clothing%20pics/RedHolidayDresses1.jpg). They strolled on in, each step in sync, looking around the room.

It ain't no mutant prom, that's for sure.

"I know," she says, grinning widely right back at him. Pft, what humility? "I love your suit. Stylish and edgy and everything in between."

She steps in the mansion. "God, I am so excited - you have no idea."

As people seemed to enjoy pointing out, Angel had a nasty habit of wearing black, black, and a lot more black and when he did venture away from the black, he stuck to a dark color scheme that was only a few degrees away from being in the black range-- dark blues, purple-ish hues, crimson reds, browns and so on. So, as if to prove that he was capable of donning something that didn't accent the creature of the night theme he had going for him, the vampire showed up wearing something in white (http://www.d-boreanaz.com/gallery/albums/albums/magazines/us-weekly-2/normal_us-weekly-2-001.jpg).

It was plain, simple, yet effective.

The scent of the person (http://glowingseer.livejournal.com/profile) he's looking for is easy enough to pick up on, for once Angel's one of the first people to arrive when he usually makes with the grand late entrances. Several first this evening, it seems. He doesn't go to her just yet, instead lingering near a wall that has now been officially dubbed the wall in which he will retreat to when needed for parties aren't really his thing. He's here, for he promised the woman he's eying from across the room that he'd attend. ...and he needed to issue an apology or two to people he taunted and harassed when he was Angelus and more than likely, those people would be here. Hopefully none of them thought he was still The Scourge. His soul was back and very much intact.

Two peas in a pond. "Me too!" she squeals in glee. Then her expression softens a bit as she says, "Good thing most of your wounds have healed up by now."

"Which you can easily blame on rough sex," Cordelia tells him, one eyebrow raised. "If they ask."

[identity profile] glowingseer.livejournal.com 2010-01-01 10:37 am (UTC)(link)
That's her! Quick-thinking girl. She rolls her eyes at him - but laughs as well. "Please. Lots and lots of things can be explained by rough sex - and people usually shut up right after. Very useful explanation, that."

Not that Cordelia really knows anything about it, since her and sex? Not a good combination anymore. Sob.

It seems like everything is already in place for the party. Still, she offers, "What do you need me to do?"

Party... Cool. Buffy remembered those. It had been a while since going to one which didn't include mass slaughter, but anyone who contacted her for such a thing was either worth knowing more about or was hosting an event for just about the entire population.

Which meant plenty of opportunity for causing chaos.

What she was wearing (http://www.chosentwo.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=4&pos=25), was more in line with the Buffy of yore, but unless someone possessed the ability to detect a vampire at range, the turned Slayer had every intention of donning human guise. No facial ridges or fangs for her. Not on display, anyway. This was more a chance for skulking around to scout out prey and potential competitors.

That the interior was to her liking, helped matters, of course.

"Nice..."

[identity profile] glowingseer.livejournal.com 2010-01-01 01:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Having no such ability, Cordelia will definitely be mistaking the vampire for the human, normal Slayer she's friends with. As such, when she spots Buffy - wearing something definitely circa-forgotten and weird - she raises a brow but doesn't comment on her attire. Yet.

"Hey Buffy!" she greets, handing one of her champagne glasses to the other girl. "Glad you can make it!"

The invitation that arrived in her tablet has piqued Illyria's interest. A gathering of people; a party. She has accessed the shell's memories and discovers a past event, one celebrated within the confines of the Wolf, the Ram and the Hart's territory. Something with dancing, and rituals. Intriguing.

Donning Fred's appearance (http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk166/zarahjoyce/tgiq0142.jpg) once again, she follows some of the people and descends towards the basement. Most of the people are unfamiliar to both her and the shell. Illyria goes to stand near the walls, merely observing.

Perhaps if she watches enough, she will finally come to understand how these unfortunate creatures work.

Fashionably late as ever (at this point it's not fashionable, it's just poor time-keeping) Buffy arrives, all prettified in a little black dress (http://i50.tinypic.com/29fyul3.jpg) for the occasion. She almost wasn't going to come, considering the fact that she's not exactly Levi's favorite person-- but then she realized that it would be far more entertaining to attend and annoy him. So she's here, whistling in an impressed sort of way at the interior, as she slinks in.

[identity profile] likeajoan.livejournal.com 2010-01-01 02:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh hello there, self. Buffy nearly choked on her drink when she spotted her fangier counterpart from across the room. After a moment of indecision she walked over, one eyebrow arched at the other Buffy's outfit. God, she remembered those days.

"I'd ask what a pretty girl like you is doing in a place like this, but that'd be oddly self-serving, wouldn't it?"

[identity profile] likeajoan.livejournal.com 2010-01-01 02:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Well. In a suit like that, Glitch was hardly difficult to spot, and though Buffy was no longer in ridiculously happy mode, she was still happy to see him. Thus, she sauntered over, wearing quite a broad smile, with two raised eyebrows to convey her admiration.

"Hey there Mr. Shiny."

[identity profile] fangy-summers.livejournal.com 2010-01-01 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh, hey... Cordy."

The last time she had met her, was in the aftermath of graduating school. Using old pet names in person was different to doing it across a screen. Especially when Buffy was now a lot more certain of things truly being as they had seemed.

And if Cordelia was... Happy to see her, this was going to require some subterfuge. Like forcing on a smile and taking the champagne as if it still meant a damn.

"Here's to good times at Taxon," she toasted.

And exposed necklines...

[identity profile] glowingseer.livejournal.com 2010-01-01 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"I hear 'ya," Cordelia replied, clinking her glass with the other girl's and drinking from it.

She looked around, trying to see if Buffy was alone - which, by all rights, she shouldn't be. "Where's--" Her eyes sparkled with mischief and she dropped her voice to whisper, "-you-know-who?"

[identity profile] fangy-summers.livejournal.com 2010-01-01 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
She'd seen her, even talked to her, but this was the first time alternative Buffys had met and doing so in the flesh was a whole lot different to across electrons.

Jaw clenched, because this just about ruined any attempts at sabotage, but on the other hand... If she played this right and someone saw them from afar, who else would know which of them was the live version?

"Hellooo, novelty reflection..."

Buffy's extended longevity edition was forcing herself to mimic older body language. Ordinarily, there might be seen a difference in the way they moved: More of a deliberate purpose in the vampire's stride. A natural stalking pose which normally came into play only on graveyard patrols, back in the old days.

"The road less travelled, huh? Looks like someone was less than discerning with the invitations... Or deliberately in need of furniture breakage."

[identity profile] fangy-summers.livejournal.com 2010-01-01 03:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Not the first time Cordelia had been in the grip of mortal danger. There was an odd sort of similarity to the time Willow's vampy self had got locked in the old library cage. The difference, this time, being that the predator in friend's clothing was mindful of creating too public a scene.

"Oh... You know me!" Buffy replied with a slightly awkward attempt at laugh, raising a shoulder. "Love to make an entrance! And, uh..." He? She? It? Lover? Friend? Damn it. "They'll be along later. Heyyy - listen! How's the..."

Eyes narrowed. Buffy trying to go with the flow and only semi-failing. She didn't even know anything about Cordelia's life, here!

"The ole'..." Struggle-struggle! "You! How are you? Cordelia. My friend... How are you? Yes. For this is my... Question."
