"-- smelled like bacon --"
When Tiberius' taller-than-Shane body disappears from in front of him, replaced by the sheen of a metallic wall, Shane's animated conversation about something apparently smelling like bacon stops right then and there. Stunned, he freezes, looking somewhat comical with both of his hands raised -- and then he turns around, suddenly on the defencive, looking everywhere he possibly can in the small room.
Not good. Not good. Not good. "Ty?" With his head ducked a little, he's almost like a threatened animal. "Ty, where are you?"
Nothing. Shane is ready to pounce the first person who shows their face.
"Okay, Kanye." Defencive, but still expressive as hell. It's hiding the fact that he's slowly getting scared by reality of this interruption. "You better put me back before you find out what a mistake this is." ... Still nothing. And that's when Shane notices the door... as well as the device on the pedestal. He approaches neither in favour of making one last attempt:
"I mean it, you want somebody taller!"
... Shane shifts his weight, then picks up the device without immediately looking at it. Instead he looks at the walls around him again, suddenly feeling very nervous, and says quietly, more like a thought than anything: "Levi?"

[voice]
... Shane?
[ holo ]
"Levi? What's with the giant soup can?"
[voice]
Shane. Stay there, don't move, I'm coming. Just stay. Please.

But he keeps his cool. Levi can probably explain it - and maybe he can explain why he sounds so upset while he's at it. After all, he only saw him about twenty minutes ago... didn't he?
[Location: Sanctuary]
That's why, instead of a calm Levi, Shane gets a very upset, very relieved Levi that nearly tackles him, holding him so tightly he's pretty sure he's hurting him. That thought makes him loosen his grip, but only slightly, and even then, he's gripping the back of Shane's shirt so tightly his knuckles are the color of printer paper.
"Shane, oh god..." Levi whispers, pressing his face into Shane's hair. He's pretty sure he can feel the waterworks coming on.

All he can do, he guesses, is not let go until Levi is ready. That, and listen.
"Levi, whoa, what - what happened?" He honestly doesn't care that he's being crushed to death. Already dead, you see.

Levi's face is wet, and his voice is breaking, but he manages the words without collapsing into complete hysteria.
"It's been a month-- a month since I saw you last--" Levi chokes out, running his fingers through Shane's hair. "I don't-- I don't know... something about aliens, I'm not entirely sure, I just--"
Breathe, Levi. Not that he needs to, but still, it's kind of hard to talk while trying to stifle sobs.

Sheppard turned his attention to the tablet at the sight of the new holographic image. Another new arrival. Well, they were trickling in more and more. That wasn't a good sign.
[holo]
Still, Shane was cautious.
"Who's there?"

"Shane, I take it?" His voice is gentle. He doesn't want to startle him.

"Uhh... maybe?"

"Levi has spoken of you. All good things, of course." He smiles, welcoming.

"Wait, you know Levi? Where is he? ... Where are we?"

"So did you meet him here?" Looking away from the tablet again, Shane's keeping an eye out for Levi.
Wow, I forgot I had this tag. :x

"As far as we can tell height has nothing to do with it. Everyone just gets plucked all willy nilly."

"Worth a shot, right...?" Shane scratches his head, looking around the hallway. "So who's the one doing the picking?"

Somebody had to be a friendly face for the newbies, right?
