"-- smelled like bacon --"

When Tiberius' taller-than-Shane body disappears from in front of him, replaced by the sheen of a metallic wall, Shane's animated conversation about something apparently smelling like bacon stops right then and there. Stunned, he freezes, looking somewhat comical with both of his hands raised -- and then he turns around, suddenly on the defencive, looking everywhere he possibly can in the small room.

Not good. Not good. Not good. "Ty?" With his head ducked a little, he's almost like a threatened animal. "Ty, where are you?"

Nothing. Shane is ready to pounce the first person who shows their face.

"Okay, Kanye." Defencive, but still expressive as hell. It's hiding the fact that he's slowly getting scared by reality of this interruption. "You better put me back before you find out what a mistake this is." ... Still nothing. And that's when Shane notices the door... as well as the device on the pedestal. He approaches neither in favour of making one last attempt:

"I mean it, you want somebody taller!"

... Shane shifts his weight, then picks up the device without immediately looking at it. Instead he looks at the walls around him again, suddenly feeling very nervous, and says quietly, more like a thought than anything: "Levi?"

Levi's expression softens, and he moves back to Shane, pressing his forehead to Shane's gently, cupping his face in his hands. "No, don't apologize. I should be the one doing that. I should've told you before," Levi says, smiling. "I was the same way when I first arrived."

He moves away, then, and his hand slips down to take Shane's, linking their fingers.

"Come on. I promise nothing will happen. I would never let anything happen to you."

There's a lot of guilt lurking in the back of Levi's mind about that off smell. He's trying not to think about it, because he just wants Shane home, and if he does think about it, he may start crying again. He's just barely managing to keep calm now.

"Similar to what I said when I first walked out, yes," Levi hums, uncomfortable by the sun. He would usually give Shane his jacket, but right now, he can vaguely smell Godric on it, so he doesn't. He just tugs Shane gently through the city.

His hands are shaking slightly from the adrenaline, from everything that's happened.

It's not that cold today, not that Levi would notice, anyway. He usually doesn't really notice changes in temperature most of the time anyway. It just doesn't matter to him.

Shane squeezes Levi's hand, and Levi jumps slightly, lost in his thoughts. He glances at Shane, though, and gives him a slow, but very warm smile.

"I'm alright. I... I just wasn't expecting to see you again. I'd resigned myself to being trapped here without you." Levi takes a deep breath. "You have no idea how glad I am to be wrong."

Halfway there.

That earns a chuckle out of him, at least, and Levi nudges Shane back, playfully. The feeling of being around Shane isn't taking long to soak in-- Levi feels warm just being around him. It's an incredible change in comparison to before. And it makes Levi want to pick Shane up and run the rest of the way home, just so he can hold him and not have to worry about the whole walking thing. Walking is a pest, Levi has decided.

"It's a good thing I love surprises, isn't it?" Levi replies, reaching over to ruffle Shane's hair slightly.

Pause, and Levi tries to relax his shoulders. He's tense as hell, and he really has no reason to be.

"... You missed an amazing party, you know."

If Levi was thinking of it that way, he'd enjoy it more. But he's not, though he is kind of swinging their hands as they walk. It's absent, one of those things Levi does without thinking.

"It was humans and vampires, partying together," Levi replies, tilting his head back to look up at the sky. As much as he's disliking the walking thing right now, he does miss clouds and the sky sometimes. "And no, I'm afraid the people here aren't as... fierce, as the ones back home. There was quite a lot of dancing and flirting, though I don't think it was anything close to the level of... mm, adult content we've had in previous parties."

The mansion's in their line of vision, now, and Levi's relieved.

Levi laughs a little at the question. "It seems we have a sort of truce. The vampires aren't allowed to eat the humans with bracelets, and the humans aren't allowed to stake the vampires. Instead, we've been finding our food from the hatches."

Conviniently, that's when they pass a hatch. Levi pauses their walk, and gestures to it. "That's a hatch. If you place your hand on it, it gives you whatever you can think of."

Then, for a more hands-on approach, Levi heads over to the hatch, places his hand on the pad, and summons two glasses of blood, one type A, the other type O, and brings them back to Shane. "See?" Levi hums, offering the glass of A.

"Did I say that?" Levi asks absently, sipping from his glass. Mm, delicious. "Of course we can, as long as the human in question has no bracelet. I'm sure you'll be able to tell the difference. The ones without bracelets smell rather like sawdust."

As he speaks, his arm slips around Shane's waist, needing to be touching again.

Levi is rushing them a little, because he wants out of the fake sunlight and into his nice, dark room, where he can curl up with Shane and fall asleep. They're almost at the front door, which Levi is glad for.

"Yes. If someone by the name of Severus Snape attempts to contact you, do not answer. Don't speak to him. He's dangerous," Levi replies, holding Shane a little more tightly. The idea of Shane being burned like the way Levi had been makes Levi irrationally furious, and he's trying not to think of it.

Levi pulls open the front door, slipping inside and holding the door for Shane. It's a relief to be out of the sun, and he lets out a small sigh, heading for one of the couches and collapsing onto it. Usually he'd go to his room, but he's slowly getting used to the fact that there are no other vampires in the house. He and Shane are alone.

"Yes. He is. He is somehow able to summon sunlight and shine it out of his hands. I have the feeling that if he'd been at full strength, I would be a pile of dust." Levi explains quietly, throwing his arm over his eyes.

[identity profile] levilup.livejournal.com 2010-01-07 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
The house is very quiet, and Levi finds he misses the crowds, even the small groups that spend time in his company. It's almost unnerving, to have something of a hotel one day and an empty mansion the next.

He feels Shane flop down next to him, but he doesn't move his arm away. He's burning with guilt, and it hurts almost as much as the sunlight had. The fact that Shane is the same as he always is, moving Levi's arm and kissing him-- it makes something inside him ache.

Levi leans into the kiss, slipping a hand into Shane's hair and gripping it slightly as a sudden rush of emotion flows through him. He needs Shane right now, selfishness be damned.

[identity profile] levilup.livejournal.com 2010-01-07 08:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Shane knows there's something wrong, Levi's sure of it-- they simply know each other too well, have been attached at the hip for several years, and something this obvious is hard to miss. He has to tell him, because he hates lying to Shane, but it scares him to think of Shane's reaction. The reason the younger vampire had become a vampire in the first place was because nobody had cared about him, and Levi doesn't want him to ever feel that way again.

When Shane takes his face in his hands, Levi's grip on Shane's hair tightens, and he can feel the guilt forming into tears behind his eyes, the sweetness of the gesture getting to him. He presses harder into the kiss, a little more desperate.

[identity profile] levilup.livejournal.com 2010-01-07 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Shane pulls away by that amount, and Levi keeps his eyes closed, trying not to let the emotions whirling around in his chest escape. Shane's worried, he knows, and he doesn't want that. The urge to tell Shane is going to win, he knows that too, and so when he opens his eyes, he lets go of Shane's hair and strokes it instead, expression miserable.

"I have to tell you something," Levi nearly whispers.
