[His voice breaks off a second before he clears his throat and continues]

I'm sorry. I know that doesn't even begin to fix this but I don't know how. I don't-You were right, Dean. I'm a monster.

I'm just sorry.

Dean falls silent at that, and shoves his hands in his pockets. The frown deepens; Dean can't help but think wow, he sucks at this cheering up thing.

Instead, he keeps on walking, heading for the nearest hatch. He's starting to feel like yes, alcohol is going to be necessary for all of this.

Sam follows aware he's upset Dean but he doesn't really know what to say to fix it. He shoves his hands in his pockets and stays quiet. Obviously talking about this isn't going to be a viable option.

Dean sighs, and when he reaches the hatch, he pulls two beers from it and hands one to Sam, popping his own open and taking a long drink. For a long moment, he's quiet, and then he speaks up again.

"You remember when we were kids?" Dean asks, the question coming out of nowhere.

Sam sips at his beer in the silence, glancing over to Dean when he asks the question. He nods curtly in response.

"Yeah...what about it?"
