Case #1 [holo | location: the sanctuary]
Kate had been circling the crime scene, taking in every nuance to aid in her investigation. She had knelt down to inspect a footprint in the dirt, when the dirt suddenly disappeared and was replaced by a cool silver floor.
"What the hell?"
She stood up, looking around. Everything had changed. The crime scene was gone, replaced by a circular room. She spun around, confused. Where was the door? Jumping down from the platform, she sprinted to the wall, stretching her hands out to feel for a door.
"Hello? Hey, anybody here?"
She pounded on the wall, though stinging hands were her only reward. As she inspected her hands, she noticed the silver bracelet on her wrist, and immediately tried to pull it off. Heart beating rapidly, she realized it wouldn't budge.
She circled the room, panicking slightly. On her second pass around the small room, she noticed the small table. On it laid what appeared to be a remote control, but upon closer inspection it looked to be some kind of cell phone. Maybe she could call for help?
She picked it up, but there did not appear to be any way to dial. She touched various places on the screen, but nothing seemed to happen. Then she heard a sliding sound, and looked up to see a door open a few feet from her. She immediately set the device down, heading for the door. It slid shut again before she could make it.
"Dammit!"
She kicked the door for good measure, then walked back over and picked up the remote/phone/whatever it was.
The door opened. Kate looked from the door, to the device, then back to the door. She set the device down again.
The door closed. Kate picked the device up again, then grinned as the door opened.
"Ok, ok. I get it."

[visual]
"Me? Uh, well I'm currently my apartment, which is located in the Shelley district. If you flip back to your map on the tablet, you should be able to see me marked. My name is Spencer Reid."
As he watched her check the map, he added an afterthought.
"Perhaps you'd like me to come meet you? So we can fill this out..."
The woman did not seem dangerous at all, just a bit out of sorts. Spencer had his gun anyway.
Re: [visual]
"Would you? I admit I'm a bit nervous about leaving this room."
[visual] [location: The Sanctuary]
"Um yeah. Well, you should be fine in the waiting area there. It should take me about 15 minutes to arrive..."
He shut off the tablet.
--
15 minutes later Spencer walked into The Sanctuary, his brown leather side bag slung over his shoulder.
"Hi uh... I'm Reid."
He gave her a small wave.
[location: The Sanctuary]
"Kate Beckett. I'd say it's nice to meet you, but under the circumstances..."
She trailed off, taking him in. When her eyes landed on his gun, she took a step back and put her hand on her holstered gun.
"Why are you armed, Reid?"
[location: The Sanctuary]
"Oh! Uh, don't be alarmed, I'm an.. FBI agent."
He pulled out his credentials, flipping the cover open to show her.
"Despite the fact that I'm not home... I still wear my gun..."
Spencer decided to wait to tell her about the vampires and other creatures roaming about.
"And uh.. why are you armed?"
Re: [location: The Sanctuary]
"I'm a detective, NYPD. I was at a crime scene, then I ended up in that room."
She pointed with her thumb over her shoulder, not taking her eyes off Reid and his gun.
[location: The Sanctuary]
Spencer glanced curiously at what was clearly a man's watch on her wrist. Odd. It was clear by Kate's body language that she was still extremely uncomfortable and did not trust him.
"Shall we, uh.. sit down?"
He motioned to some chairs set around a coffee table about 5 feet away."
"Or perhaps you'd prefer to go into the city and get coffee or something?"
Re: [location: The Sanctuary]
"Coffee? There's coffee?"
[location: The Sanctuary]
"Oh certainly. I'm a bit of a coffee addict myself. I have quite a large quantity at my apartment."
He noticed the stern look return to her face and quickly backtracked.
"But, uh, I just meant going to a shop around the block, so that we can fill out these questions quickly and you can be on your way..."
[location: The Sanctuary]
"On my way to where? I have no idea where I am."
At least coffee was something familiar. Hopefully this guy could keep answering questions for her.
"Lead the way, Reid."
[location: The Sanctuary]
As they reached the cafe, Spencer motioned for her to have a seat.
"How do you usually take your coffee?"
Re: [location: The Sanctuary]
"Two creams, two sugars. Please."
As he walked away, she looked around the shop, observing how the shop was both full of people and yet somehow devoid of life. None of the other patrons paid her any attention.
[location: Central]
He gave her a brief smile, then pulled out his pad.
"So.. we already have your name... Kate Beckett..."
Spencer wrote that down.
"And your occupation... NYPD detective... homicide?"
He glanced up at her, fairly certain of his prediction based on her air of authority.
[location: Central]
"Y-yes. How did you know that?"
[location: Central]
Spencer said this all very matter-of-factly as he continued down the page.
"And you're human... that's good..."
He checked that box with satisfaction.
Re: [location: Central]
She nodded as he checked boxes, then paused.
"Wait, human? Of course I'm human. What else would I be? Why is that even an option?"
[location: Central]
"You see, uh.. we have some non-humans here. Various.. aliens.. and vampires. I know that might seem illogical, and I thought so as well when I first got here, but I've seen them myself."
[location: Central]
"Shut the front door."
[location: Central]
"Uh... ok? Anyway... I haven't met any vampires yet, but I've seen overwhelming evidence to believe that they're out there. That's part of the reason that I keep carrying my gun around."
[location: Central]
"Will a bullet kill a vampire? I don't know anything besides the crap they show in movies. Are vampires violent?"
[location: Central]
"I don't know. According to folklore, no. But at least I could potentially stun or hurt them and give myself enough time to escape. I don't like using my gun but... it's better than being bitten."
He gazed down at his pad, turning his pencil over in his hand.
Re: [location: Central]
"I don't like using my gun either."
She moved her hand back and then coughed, feeling awkward.
"I think the fact that you haven't seen any would be a good sign that the vampires here aren't violent. That's good news."
[location: Central]
"Yeah.. so.. um, what year are you from?"
[location: Central]
"Year? 2010, of course."
Then her eyes got wide.
"You don't mean...different times?"
[location: Central]
"As well as people who claim that they can time travel, though I have not seen evidence of that personally..."
He wrote that down, then looked back up at her.
"And you're from New York City... and were investigating a crime scene... anything unusual about the crime scene? What specifically were you doing?"
