If the sudden shift in scenery had not been enough to irritate the, admittedly easily ruffled, vampire, the strange bracelet on his wrist certainly was. Wrapping his fingers around his wrist, he instinctively tried to remove the device, having little success. With a distinctive low growl, he stalked toward the pedestal and the (phone?) laying atop it. He wanted answers. Snatching the tablet from its resting place, he glared at the screen.



"This is not acceptable!"



The blinking message indicator caught his attention, and for a moment, his anger was diverted, his frown deepening as he read. Finally, he closed the document, leaning his elbow on the pedestal casually as he studied the device. Yes, he had discovered it was recording him. He was still glaring, but his anger was slightly less alarming.



"Couldn't we have managed without the jewelry? It doesn't match my suit." He looked back toward the platform he had arrived on, then back at the tablet in his hand. "But never mind that, I'll think of something."



And then he was grinning again. "But since we're all here, allow me to introduce myself. Nikola Tesla. Genius, inventor," and here there was a pause, mostly for effect, "vampire."



With that, he turned his attention to the strange blinking indicator directing him to another location in the city. "I wonder where you're taking me."

As it was most days, Josef had the tablet turned away from him, facing a wall. Too often it came to life when he was busy with things that he didn't want broadcasted, but he was curious enough to want to know what was going on.

Even then, he barely looked up at the new voice. Right about until the time he heard the name. For a man working hard during those years to establish a new name for himself in the height of so much change, it was a name that Josef had well heard before... but with only two of those titles attached.

Dropping the papers he was working on, he moved to turn the tablet to face him. Studying the image presented to him. Very interesting, that was for certain.

"Sadly they don't take sartorial preferences into consideration with the bracelets. Rather like jerking us here. No one gets a say in it, apparently. Also, do you not live in a city with any sort of rules about running about announcing the species? No torch bearing mobs there?"

Oh, look, someone was trying to give him advice. Not that he actually had much interest in listening to it.

"They might hear fewer complaints if they were more considerate."

Forgive the non-attention and continued tapping on the screen as he explored the tablet's contents.

"And somehow, I have a feeling I'm not the first of my species to come here. The rules are different."

"I'm not sure hamster aliens give a single damn about complaints from us," he said with a shrug, not able to let go of what he'd been told about those keeping them there even if he hadn't seen them and was talking the word of a man wit a zipper in his head.

"No. Not even close to first. Fourth or fifth that I know of and I haven't been here a month." He paused, considering. "At least the fifth, yeah."

"You'd think they'd make an effort to keep their playthings happy." Not commenting on the 'hamster aliens' bit.

"Then you shouldn't be so surprised."

He is going to smack you Nikola. So hard for that.

Because now he has to somehow explain vampires from their world on top of well...Nikola.

He had been so enjoying his morning in Jenna's house too. It had been rather nice and quiet and he was just getting over Helen being gone and enjoying whatever his and Jenna's relationship was, enjoying his time with Ashley, when he showed up.

God damn it Nikola Tesla, did you have to ruin his peace and quiet?

Which would explain the annoyed tone and look on his face. "And if you want to keep your head in this place I would kindly advise you to keep that fact about yourself quiet."

He'll be happy to explain for you, but that's probably best left to someone with a touch more tact who isn't quite so likely to make enemies.

And yes. Yes, he did.

Oh, but he's grinning because this is a familiar face, ignoring the fact it's one he thought he would never see again. "I think it may be too late for that."

It is and it's why he's going to be stuck giving the talk. He really didn't want to have to give that talk, vampires are hard enough on a good day let alone well here.

And oh stop that smirking you git. He will find a way to reach out and hit you, he swears it. "Then I am not about to stop the probable manhunts and paranoia that ensues." No that's a lie he will step in and fight tooth and nail for Nikola, he'll just do it with a groan and a line face.

And no he's not going to explain how he's alive and well here really. Nope. Not at all.

Good luck doing that through the screen, James. He'll just continue his smirking, knowing full well he would defend him. "I would have thought a progressive alien society would be more civilized than that."

And he's not going to ask.

Ashley just stared for a full minute as she noticed who was on her tablet screen that day. She'd met him only once before the Cabal had made her their soldier and he'd been intending to kill her mother at the time. After that, she could vaguely recall fighting him herself. He'd been pretty powerful and he'd been attempting to stop her, which was always a bonus. As far as she was concerned, stopping her once the Cabal had gotten their hands on her made him at least partially a good guy.

Still, she wasn't entirely sure what to think of him, how to feel, whether she should be glad for his presence or upset. That confusion explained the look on her face and the fact that the first thing out of her mouth was, "Oh what the hell."

Her expression soured considerably.

"Oh yeah, you're one to talk about manners, Mister I Like Electricity."

Yeah. Don't think she doesn't remember that.

"As I recall, I wasn't the only one."

Jenna had turned on her tablet for a reply before she'd even heard that final, most telling word. When it came, she frowned. "Wow... Guess every world really does have vampires."

It was strange to think about. She hadn't even been aware of their existence before she arrived here and now she was taking them as completely normal pieces of a very weird life. She sighed as she crossed from the kitchen to the living room and headed for the couch.

"Just to let you know, the population here seems to be a little worried about vampires. So, uh... announcing that probably wasn't your best move."

Not that it really was her problem. She just crossed in front of the couch and sat down on it, tucking her legs up underneath her as she did so. Nikola might recognize the person she's now leaning a little bit against, especially considering it's James.

Ignore him Nikola he's just going to make a comment to the lady now leaning against him. Because he honestly can't avoid it, but he probably could have helped the hand on her leg but he's not going to stop it either.

"They do indeed, however Nikola is the last example of vampires in our world. Even though he technically is a half-vampire."

Because he honestly couldn't help that little quip.

"I can't imagine why, and the welcoming committee did suggest honesty." Not that he particularly cares what they do and don't deem appropriate. He isn't the best at following rules.

And there is that familiar face again. He's not going to simply let that go, James.

"With all the benefits."

It's a good thing she's wearing jeans, so the touch isn't on a bare leg, isn't it? Not that she minds either way.

"Let's just say this city's had some bad vampire experie-"

It's about then that James' words click and she frowns over at him. "Half-vampire? How can someone be half-vampire?"

If she wasn't confused before, she certainly is now.

There's a bit of an internal war going on inside Willow at this new arrival. She knows who Nikola Tesla is, and she's very excited about that, but it's the vampire part that makes her nervous.

"Uh, are you really Nikola Tesla?" 'Cause he was supposed to have died years ago. Though the being a vampire thing would explain that. "And uh... a-are you the kind of vampire with or without a soul 'cause if you're missing that, we're gonna have some problems."

"The one and only." As far as he knows, at least. "That would depend on who you're asking. But to be fair, I didn't realize that was an option."

"...Cool..."

She'll get back to who he is in a moment.

"Yeah and believe me, the non-souled ones are the worst. I should warn you, if you are missing your real actual soul, I can and will get it back. Don't give me a reason."

She's more than capable of taking down vampires if she has to. It usually wears her out, but she'll do it.

Drusilla returned his grin with a wicked glint in her eyes.

"Good," she answered, regarding him with curiosity. He was confident and he was pretty and he crackled with a power that Drusilla had never seen before. "There aren't many of us left now. I was lonely."

She'd been starting to get bored. And she didn't like being bored.

He eyed her carefully through the screen; his last meeting with a fellow vampire hadn't gone well.

"Maybe I can help with that."

He understood the dangers of boredom all too well.

"Oh, I hope so," she purred, apparently unaware of - or, at the very least, disinterested in - the careful look that he was giving her. She often inspired that sort of behaviour. It was lovely to see it. "What's your name?"
