~Halloween Event~ Carnival! Fun Fair Fun Times!
On the evening of the twenty-second day of the tenth month, the chilly weather takes on a slightly different shroud: veiling itself in brighter starlight and clearer air and a crisp, pitch black cloak of darkness...lit up by streetlamps and bright, autumnal window displays, and carved vegetables as far as the eye can see.
It's not just Jack what makes a lantern this time of year, but courgettes and bird cages (birds not included) and jars and actual wrought iron lanterns. Candle light permeating the very air of the city, casting a warm glow on anyone who happens to draw close enough.
Here and there Extra parents tug their Extra children along in a hurried quest to find the perfect outfit or costume for this or that party, spooky or sweet or just plain excellent.
What's more is the long winding carnival snaking its way along the many winding streets of Taxon, hundreds of Extras all dressed up in outfits that some may find more disturbing than others: zombies, ghouls, old crones and Killer Klowns and white-masked beings, moaning and wheezing and giggling their way towards Central Square - but who knows where they're headed next.
Fun fair's in town, kids.

She makes a face at the mention of the clown, "Probably for the best all around."

"Kinda surprised these half-robot types even have enough creativity to try and dress up at all. Almost rather have 'em pretendin' to be monsters this way than pretendin' to be people every other day. Bit less creepy."

The hair on the back of Logan's neck stands up a little at the thought, and he grumbles a little.
"You can see why it'll be good ta have somebody around. Otherwise, it's just me thinkin' like that all the time."

Selina gives a small smile to him.
no subject
"Let it be, I guess. Place'll teach ya patience."
A glance over at her, shifting subjects out of necessity.
"Y'know, ya clean up nice for a homeless gal."
no subject
"Thank you, though."

He stops short for a moment, eyes fixed on one of those crawling clowns, arms turned out in preparation... but the thing doesn't make a move. Just meanders on by. Logan makes sure it's long past before starting to walk again.
"Now ya got me jumpy about those things."
no subject
"Better safe than sorry?"
no subject
"You met the sheriff?"
no subject
"I hate mind control."
no subject
Big reason why the friendlier telepaths have a hard time connecting with people sometimes.
"How'd you get out?"

"Though I'm willin' to bet these alien assholes ain't gonna bother bein' consistent. Ain't like there's any kinda law beyond whatever their latest little whim is."

"Just some kinda pleasant manipulation where ya don't even realize yer bein' controlled until it's too late? Or did ya realize it was happenin' and couldn't do anythin' about it?"

"Sounds like some kinda post-hypnotic thing. Been through enough o' people muckin' with my mind to last me a lifetime."
His lips tense in thought, before shaking his head.
"Makes it that much harder to kill that sheriff just to see what attention it brings."
no subject
Selina makes a face, "I've been through pheromone control, chemical control and nanite control. This wasn't quite like any of them."
no subject
Logan pinches the bridge of his nose. Not even wanting to go into false memory implants and all that ugly mess.
"Or magic spells. So many goddamn ways to take your free will away."
That doesn't even count your own brain working against you after somebody presses enough buttons to hit the berzerker switch.

There is a look toward him and then she looks away, "Magic, though, magic we have."
no subject
First, of course, he thinks of Jean, before jumping to Madelyne.
"Hell, we've got one of 'em here. Lucked out that it wasn't one of the nastier ones, though."
Then, a look to Selina. "How bad's the magic?"
no subject
"The redhead, right? She has some interesting taste in clothes."
