five | [Location: Levi's Mansion] | got my boots on, the right amount of leather

New Years Eve.

Levi is ready, decked out in his party suit, and a lot of makeup. He's just finished his preparations, and he's sitting in his living room, waiting patiently for Cordelia to arrive, and then the guests. Of course, the party isn't taking place in his living room. That's much too small for such a large event.

He's having a party in his basement.

His basement is huge, and he's decked it out in lights and such that he's hatched. All of it has a New Years theme, somehow; Levi's good at throwing parties, he knows how to decorate. The room is basically like a nightclub. It's dark, but clear of most beams and supports; there are couches and chairs, and a bar to the far end, stocked with just about every type of alcohol imaginable (as well as a few different types of blood). Here and there, there's potted plants and trees in clumps, as well as a giant throne, surrounded by those plants, further along on the back wall. There's also a large stage towards the middle, with a dancing space out in front of it. And right above the stage is a giant clock, which Levi had set up earlier for the countdown later that night.

As for music, he's got a whole playlist, just waiting to be started. It's a huge mix of things, from pop-y dance music to slow songs for the couples. There's a few setlists, of sorts, pinned to the walls and the bar.

It's about ten minutes before the party arrives, and Levi is waiting impatiently.

[[ooc: Vaguely organized planning post here! If there's a song you suggested and you want it to be played, it will be. Just handwave it. So yes! Have fun. :D

EDIT: Subthread labeled for the countdown to midnight is up! Grab your date and tag there for kissy tiemz. :3]

When Dexter said that he was staying far away from the New Year's party in the vampire basement... well, it was a lie. The change of heart probably came from the dawning realisation that if a bunch of other people were going, he was doomed to spend the countdown surrounded by creepy pod people. At least the vampireness of the evening would have that vampire-slayers-are-present buffer.

So.

Dexter makes it down to the basement after a long and nervous trek (almost tripping a few times on the way down, wonderful), not extremely dressed up (think this (http://i45.tinypic.com/2jcexcw.png) without the manbag), but A for effort. Once inside, he kind of glances around at all the people, scoping out the ones he knows aren't of the bloodsucking variety. Oh, Dexter. You go to a party with vampires, you're going to end up mingling with vampires.

And non-vampires as well!

"Dexter, hi!" This said with a big smile. "Thanks for coming!"

The best kind of vampires, in Dexter's opinion. Non-vampires.

"Cordy! Hi!" At least he looks a little less nervous when he's smiling. "No problem... um, how's it going so far?" Casualties? Shut up, brain.

She gestures around them - at the attendees, the music, the food. Cordelia's proud of the outcome, and it shows in her expression - apparently she's not yet picking up on Dexter's paranoia. "It's been going extremely well," she replies. "Can I get you something to drink? I mean, you can drink, right?"

[identity profile] dexmcduff.livejournal.com 2010-01-02 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
He nods in approval as she does so, just fine with the fact that she's not catching on to said paranoia. Private paranoia is just fine. And then he laughs, just because he's now free to utter these words at will:

"Chyeah, I am nineteen." Dexter seems to be proud of this. "I mean - please. What've you got?"

[identity profile] glowingseer.livejournal.com 2010-01-02 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
She thinks about asking for some sort of ID as a joke, but promptly discards that thought away.

"Every type of alcohol known to man - and even some non-man." Well, there are some types of blood on the table, too. "Levi got wild with hatching stuff, I think. I'll let you decide on what to try out first."

[identity profile] dexmcduff.livejournal.com 2010-01-02 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Right. Levi. Dexter bites back a comment about the drinks being spiked with blood or something. "Actually, uhh... what do you recommend?" Dexter shrugs, all nonchalant-like. Yeaaah, not exactly drink-savvy.

[identity profile] glowingseer.livejournal.com 2010-01-03 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
"How about a strawberry daiquiri?" she teases him.

[identity profile] dexmcduff.livejournal.com 2010-01-03 06:35 am (UTC)(link)
He just snorts, not sure whether or not she's actually serious. "I can embrace my girly drink side if I have to."

[identity profile] glowingseer.livejournal.com 2010-01-03 06:43 am (UTC)(link)
That gets her to laugh. "Sure you can," Cordelia says. "Just don't let any of the girls see you do it."

She approaches the bar and grabs a regular beer, the type she's seen the jocks at Sunnydale drink all the time. "Here, try this. Embrace a manlier you."

Drink in hand, Kirk comes up to one of the familiar faces he spotted earlier. He hadn't seen Dex in person in a while and hadn't exactly been the most pleasant of individuals when he'd spoken to the guy over the tablet a while back when the start of his downer holiday mood had taken over.

"Hey there, kid. Enjoying yourself?"

[identity profile] dexmcduff.livejournal.com 2010-01-02 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
"Heya, Captain," Dexter says with a mock salute, turning to the guy with a smile. So maybe he was cranky the last time they spoke. Whatever; it's in de past, as a wise stick-wielding monkey would say.

"Yeeeeeup," he replies, nodding slowly and a few more times than necessary. "How about you, havin' a time?"

[identity profile] tiberiuskirk.livejournal.com 2010-01-03 01:56 am (UTC)(link)

"Time enough," is the simplest answer he can give, being that his calm demeanor is mostly a mask covering the irritation he feels over what's to come in a few days' time. "Sure a change from the sort of parties I used to go in high school. It's a lot less... Well, I doubt the cops will get called on this. Not that Taxon has cops."

[identity profile] dexmcduff.livejournal.com 2010-01-03 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, yeah," Dexter scoffs, like he knows all about fleeing from the po-po at rowdy parties. No, Dexter. No, you do not. "Definitely different. I'm enjoying this mature adult thing."

He shifts his weight, sliding his hands into his pockets. "So how's it been going since the, um, birthday thing?"
