five | [Location: Levi's Mansion] | got my boots on, the right amount of leather

New Years Eve.

Levi is ready, decked out in his party suit, and a lot of makeup. He's just finished his preparations, and he's sitting in his living room, waiting patiently for Cordelia to arrive, and then the guests. Of course, the party isn't taking place in his living room. That's much too small for such a large event.

He's having a party in his basement.

His basement is huge, and he's decked it out in lights and such that he's hatched. All of it has a New Years theme, somehow; Levi's good at throwing parties, he knows how to decorate. The room is basically like a nightclub. It's dark, but clear of most beams and supports; there are couches and chairs, and a bar to the far end, stocked with just about every type of alcohol imaginable (as well as a few different types of blood). Here and there, there's potted plants and trees in clumps, as well as a giant throne, surrounded by those plants, further along on the back wall. There's also a large stage towards the middle, with a dancing space out in front of it. And right above the stage is a giant clock, which Levi had set up earlier for the countdown later that night.

As for music, he's got a whole playlist, just waiting to be started. It's a huge mix of things, from pop-y dance music to slow songs for the couples. There's a few setlists, of sorts, pinned to the walls and the bar.

It's about ten minutes before the party arrives, and Levi is waiting impatiently.

[[ooc: Vaguely organized planning post here! If there's a song you suggested and you want it to be played, it will be. Just handwave it. So yes! Have fun. :D

EDIT: Subthread labeled for the countdown to midnight is up! Grab your date and tag there for kissy tiemz. :3]

He would have expected it no other way. Their first encounter had been in the transporter room and even then, he had been distracted by squabbling with Jim instead of paying attention to her group of friends trying to torch another place.

"I didn't want to be here." He retorted automatically in response to her jab at his wintery clothing compared to everyone else. Taxon decided to be cold and a man from Georgia does not like the cold.

Psh, it'll be warm soon anyway.

"Oh come on, H," Cordelia said, rolling her eyes at him. Geez, was he always coiled up tighter than a... rattlesnake, or something? "It's a party. Why would anyone not want to be in a party?"

No really. Enlighten her.

McCoy is obstinate in his grumpiness.

"I don't party." He stated simply. It had been drilled out of him the moment he became a father... okay, since he graduated University, but she does not need to know that.

"And yet you're in a party, so clearly you're going to."

The logic was crystal clear to Cordelia - go to a party, party, go home from a party. "What's the sense of going to a party when you're not going to party?"

Party, obviously, was the most overused word in her vocabulary.

"Not if I leave."

There was not enough people here yet, maybe he could make a beeline for the exit. He had attended the party; no one said he had to stay there.

This would be Cordelia, crossing her arms and tapping her foot on the floor. This was just so not amusing, Horatio.

"Really?" she asked. "You're going to leave after two seconds of arriving? Aren't you even going to, oh I don't know, say hi to the locals, drink yourself stupid - or! Look for your fellow space ship people! Who are around here somewhere, by the way!"

[identity profile] notsawbones.livejournal.com 2010-01-02 02:11 pm (UTC)(link)
His idea of making a beeline was thwarted once he heard the inevitable sound of a foot tapping that brought him very much back to the conversation. He glanced away from the door and back to where Cordelia was pretty much glaring at him. "I see my fellow space ship people nearly every day, Chase." And even fights with one of them on a daily basis. "I don't see how people can be celebrating the New Year stuck in this place with Goddamn aliens glitching the hell out of us for giggles."

Was he bitter about that fact? Probably.

"Because it's pretty much one of those rare moments when we all can forget for several minutes - hours, if we're lucky - that we are stuck in this craphole of a place for, like, the rest of eternity if we're unlucky?"

She uncrossed her arms just so she could plant her hands on her hips. "God, what is your extra damage, doc?"

He had been glitched into kissing someone who was essentially a Monk. He missed Christmas, his daughter, Georgia; hell, there was a lot of extra damage inflicted onto McCoy, it was a wonder he could even barely hold down a conversation without screaming.

"Stuck here for the rest of eternity." He echoed. "Joy."

"If we're unlucky," Cordelia reiterated, because that was like the silver lining to the whole thing, or something.

"You do realize that you're not the only one who wants to get the hell out of this place, right? You have eyes, doc. Look around you. Hell, ask if you want - every single one here wants to go home. But here they are, smiling, dancing, drinking - because guess what? Not like we're getting out faster if we scream our necks off or snarl at anything moving since, hey! You're still here!"

She would be exhaling loudly at this point. "That was-- I'm sorry, okay? But what I said was true."
