five | [Location: Levi's Mansion] | got my boots on, the right amount of leather

New Years Eve.

Levi is ready, decked out in his party suit, and a lot of makeup. He's just finished his preparations, and he's sitting in his living room, waiting patiently for Cordelia to arrive, and then the guests. Of course, the party isn't taking place in his living room. That's much too small for such a large event.

He's having a party in his basement.

His basement is huge, and he's decked it out in lights and such that he's hatched. All of it has a New Years theme, somehow; Levi's good at throwing parties, he knows how to decorate. The room is basically like a nightclub. It's dark, but clear of most beams and supports; there are couches and chairs, and a bar to the far end, stocked with just about every type of alcohol imaginable (as well as a few different types of blood). Here and there, there's potted plants and trees in clumps, as well as a giant throne, surrounded by those plants, further along on the back wall. There's also a large stage towards the middle, with a dancing space out in front of it. And right above the stage is a giant clock, which Levi had set up earlier for the countdown later that night.

As for music, he's got a whole playlist, just waiting to be started. It's a huge mix of things, from pop-y dance music to slow songs for the couples. There's a few setlists, of sorts, pinned to the walls and the bar.

It's about ten minutes before the party arrives, and Levi is waiting impatiently.

[[ooc: Vaguely organized planning post here! If there's a song you suggested and you want it to be played, it will be. Just handwave it. So yes! Have fun. :D

EDIT: Subthread labeled for the countdown to midnight is up! Grab your date and tag there for kissy tiemz. :3]

He forgave her for the arguing due to it being glitch-influenced and the kiss...well, they weren't going to talk about that and if she didn't remember it, then he wasn't about to bring it up.

"Jim," he corrected, even though he'd called her lieutenant and started the rank-using. "Call me Jim. No uniform, no ranks. And I'm--" He cut himself off, debating his answer. Uhura was from their world and was more than likely aware of the anniversary of the Kelvin's destruction and his birth being only a few days away. "--dealing. Good...ish, all things considering."

Not bringing up the kiss was a smart move on his part. There was still the chance that she'd remember everything eventually, but for right now, she was probably better off not knowing about it. She was just relieved that everyone seemed to be willing to forgive her for her behavior.

"You started it," she couldn't help but point out with a smile. She nodded, her expression sobering a bit when he indirectly mentioned what was coming up. "And that's good."

She didn't know whether or not Kirk knew about what had happened to her father - it was easy enough to look up in Starfleet's records, but she'd never really called attention to it.

"Yeah well, I take it back," he countered, forever grateful that she didn't remember that kiss at the moment. He hoped she never would, for it was far easier on both their parts to pretend it had never happened at all.

Kirk sighed. "It's..." Why was he telling Uhura this? Because she was from their time, knew what had happened on the day of his birth and was on the Enterprise when everything went down. "It's different, now that I know what really happened and why. Not that it's common knowledge. Temporal Investigations ordered me not to talk about what really happened, but here... That doesn't matter so much."

Which was Kirk's way of saying that if she wanted to know, he'd tell her-- That Nero really was from the future, why he came back to the past, why he was interested in Spock...all of it.

Uhura nodded, watching him. Part of her was very curious about what he knew about what had happened. On the other hand, it wasn't as if a party was really the right place to be discussing a matter like that.

"Does anyone else here know?"

Even if they did, a crew meeting might be a good idea, anyway.

"Buffy does," he answered and it occurred to him then that while she may know who the Slayer was, that she might not know that he was dating her. That information had been shared with her while she was glitching and since she didn't remember that mistletoe kiss they'd shared, it was safe to say she probably didn't remember that, either. "Buffy Summers." He pointed her out in the crowd. "My girlfriend."

He hadn't told her because they were dating, though. Orders were orders and being the fledgling captain that he was, disobeying an order that came from Temporal Investigations of all places was just asking for court marshal.

"That truth glitch a while back? ...yeah. Bones knows, too. And now you will."

Where to begin? The beginning seemed as good of a place as any.

"Nero's ship was from the future. He was from 2387, the late 24th Century."

Her eyebrows raised - Kirk had a girlfriend? Someone he'd been dating for more than a few days? This was news to her.

She didn't dwell on it for too long, though - she was more interested in hearing the truth about what had happened that day. So she just nodded, waiting for him to continue.

And then frowned at what he was saying - so their theory had been right?

"How did he arrive in our time?"

Kirk sighed. "Romulus, the star in that system went supernova. Took out the whole system. The Federation couldn't or wouldn't help-- I don't know the details of why on that," because the other Spock hadn't explained about Shinzon's coup d'état or the Borg War, which was probably for the best, "but the Vulcans could. The black hole device was theirs and they used it to contain the supernova to stop it from taking out the rest of the sector. Nero was caught in the wake, as was the Vulcan ship that launched the red matter device into the supernova to contain it. They were both pulled back in time. Nero emerged on the day of my birth and the Vulcan ship some twenty-five years later, shortly before Nero took out Vulcan."
