II: [ Accidental Voice ] Magic Hour

[ There's a sound of pages rustling. With everything that has happened in Taxon - dangerous vampires running amok, crazy people bombing everything regardless of intentions or who they'd hurt - Piper feels as though she should do something. She consults The Book of Shadows and while she's not sure it will work, she decides to give it a try. ]

In this night and in this hour
I call upon the Ancient Power
Heed my words, I beseech thee.

In this circle that is our home
protect us from the evils that roam
And ensure our safety.

[ she waits for something to happen - but after a pathetic puff of smoke in the air, nothing did. She sighs.] Right. Of course that won't work.

I am-- forgive my manners. Arthur Pendragon of Camelot. [ it's pretty interesting for Arthur to meet a witch who ISN'T evil, so. That works. ]

It sounds like you and your sisters fight for a very noble cause, then. Are they not-- wait, did you just say demons?

I'm Piper Halliwell. It's nice to meet you, Prince Arthur. [ there's a smile in her voice as she says: ] Or should I be addressing you as 'my lord'?

I wish I was kidding when I said that, but unfortunately I'm not. [ is it possible that Arthur has encountered demons, too? ]

Likewise, Miss Halliwell. [ a snort of laughter here. ] I think we can leave out the titles, unless you're especially inclined. Just Arthur will do.

[ Fortunately, he has not. ] I always assumed they were myths. Stories to keep little children quiet at bedtime-- but then, with 'vampires' apparently running around everywhere, I suppose I shouldn't be surprised.

All right, Arthur - but only if you call me Piper.

[ she will just shake her head here. ] I understand how you feel, believe me. This time last year? I would have laughed at the idea of anything supernatural and dismiss them immediately. Now it's just something... normal. [ she chuckles, because how absurd is that? ] To be honest, though - vampires? Those are something I haven't encountered before, and it doesn't help that this place is infested with them. Have you actually met one?

We have a deal. Piper it is, then.

[ A brief moment of consideration. ] Not that I know of, though I have met a vampire slayer called Enfys. And she was going on about another one - Buffy, or something. Frankly bizarre name, if you ask me.

A vampire... slayer. Buffy is a vampire slayer?

Supposedly. I take it you're acquainted then?

Considering I live in her castle? Yes.

[ she pauses, as if in deep thought. ] If she's a vampire slayer, then shouldn't all vampires be gone by now?

Maybe she's rubbish at it?

[ Arthur has no tact. ]

[ good thing she has some of it. ] No, no. Maybe... maybe it's something else. It's worth asking, though.
