II: [ Accidental Voice ] Magic Hour

[ There's a sound of pages rustling. With everything that has happened in Taxon - dangerous vampires running amok, crazy people bombing everything regardless of intentions or who they'd hurt - Piper feels as though she should do something. She consults The Book of Shadows and while she's not sure it will work, she decides to give it a try. ]

In this night and in this hour
I call upon the Ancient Power
Heed my words, I beseech thee.

In this circle that is our home
protect us from the evils that roam
And ensure our safety.

[ she waits for something to happen - but after a pathetic puff of smoke in the air, nothing did. She sighs.] Right. Of course that won't work.

"Usually. It's... kind of complicated sometimes." She's thinking of both Stefan and Spike now. "But it's usually better to be careful, of course."

"Oh." Complicated. Complicated how? Don't they all just suck blood and kill? "Right, of course. I think it's better that way, to be honest."

She nods. "So many people... and vampires... are from different places. It doesn't seem like the rules are consistent. Giles might know more, though."

"Sam mentioned something like that," Piper says. She looks at Tara. "Do you... know him? He was saying something about vampires a while ago. He mentioned crossbows are effective against some of them here."

"Yeah, I know Sam. He seems to know a lot about fighting all kinds of things." She smiles a little. "He and Buffy could start a club."

"Buffy?" she asks. "Why? Does she fight all kinds of things, too?"

"She... she did, back in Sunnydale." Tara hopes Buffy wasn't keeping that secret for some reason, belatedly.

"Is that where you'll all from? Sunnydale?"

She nods. "Well... not originally. But that's where we met each other - and where I was, at least, before I came here."

Piper doesn't think she's heard of a place called Sunnydale before. Then again, she isn't that much well-traveled herself.

"I'm from San Francisco," she offers. "Have you ever been there?"

She nods. "Just once. Sunnydale... it's kind of little, but it's not too far from L.A."
