~Halloween Event~ Carnival! Fun Fair Fun Times!
On the evening of the twenty-second day of the tenth month, the chilly weather takes on a slightly different shroud: veiling itself in brighter starlight and clearer air and a crisp, pitch black cloak of darkness...lit up by streetlamps and bright, autumnal window displays, and carved vegetables as far as the eye can see.
It's not just Jack what makes a lantern this time of year, but courgettes and bird cages (birds not included) and jars and actual wrought iron lanterns. Candle light permeating the very air of the city, casting a warm glow on anyone who happens to draw close enough.
Here and there Extra parents tug their Extra children along in a hurried quest to find the perfect outfit or costume for this or that party, spooky or sweet or just plain excellent.
What's more is the long winding carnival snaking its way along the many winding streets of Taxon, hundreds of Extras all dressed up in outfits that some may find more disturbing than others: zombies, ghouls, old crones and Killer Klowns and white-masked beings, moaning and wheezing and giggling their way towards Central Square - but who knows where they're headed next.
Fun fair's in town, kids.

"Guess you've heard more'n I have. What are we s'posed to have comin'?"

"Take it you've got a bad history. That just a Gacy thing, or somethin' else? And who's tellin' you rumors about clowns?"
no subject
Selina shakes her head, trying to figure out how to explain The Joker to someone who has no frame of reference for him. "He is one of the scariest things to have ever existed and he looks like a clown, or well, probably the world's best dressed clown. He...." Raising a hand she waves off the topic, not wanting to think about what Halloween is like at home. Kids don't have to watch out for razor blades, they have to watch out for nerve gas and diabolical death traps.
"Some of the other people in the city, the guy with the zipper in his head, mentioned this place is bad news at Halloween."
no subject
"Guy's named Glitch, I think," Logan replies. "Guess he'd know. Sounds like he's been here the longest."
Logan's seen some freaky clowns in his day. Although Sinister is more of a mime, but what's a mime if not a kinda clown? Especially if the guy won't ever shut up.
"If the hamsters decide to throw evil clowns at us, we'll just have to be worse news for them than they are for us."
no subject
Selina shakes her head a bit and pinches the bridge of her nose briefly, "Right. So, who knows how horrible horrible will end up being. It makes me wish I had a ... I don't know. Something. I don't have any safe hiding spots here and it isn't like they'd be safe if the aliens didn't want them to be safe...."
Pause.
"This place gives me a headache."
no subject
"That your way of tryin' to get me to take ya into the basement of my place you were so curious about?"
no subject
"At home I have a lot of places I can crash."
no subject
"Still don't recommend you go nosin' around the lower levels, though."
Knowing full well what forbidding somethin' will spark in a cat.
no subject
Selina gives him a look and recognizes when she's being taunted, or teased at the very least. Still, there is something...
no subject
"I could use the company. That place is s'posed to be teemin' with kids learnin' how to do everything from science to shootin'. Havin' it empty like that just keeps remindin' me what I'm missin'."

"Just knowin' your there should help a bit. Too much good space not bein' used. Glad ta have ya, Kyle."
A soft breath through the nose.
"Promise, we ain't got a clown anywhere on campus."
no subject
She makes a face at the mention of the clown, "Probably for the best all around."
no subject
"Kinda surprised these half-robot types even have enough creativity to try and dress up at all. Almost rather have 'em pretendin' to be monsters this way than pretendin' to be people every other day. Bit less creepy."

The hair on the back of Logan's neck stands up a little at the thought, and he grumbles a little.
"You can see why it'll be good ta have somebody around. Otherwise, it's just me thinkin' like that all the time."
no subject
Selina gives a small smile to him.
no subject
"Let it be, I guess. Place'll teach ya patience."
A glance over at her, shifting subjects out of necessity.
"Y'know, ya clean up nice for a homeless gal."
no subject
"Thank you, though."
no subject
He stops short for a moment, eyes fixed on one of those crawling clowns, arms turned out in preparation... but the thing doesn't make a move. Just meanders on by. Logan makes sure it's long past before starting to walk again.
"Now ya got me jumpy about those things."
no subject
"Better safe than sorry?"
no subject
"You met the sheriff?"
no subject
"I hate mind control."
