five | [Location: Levi's Mansion] | got my boots on, the right amount of leather

New Years Eve.

Levi is ready, decked out in his party suit, and a lot of makeup. He's just finished his preparations, and he's sitting in his living room, waiting patiently for Cordelia to arrive, and then the guests. Of course, the party isn't taking place in his living room. That's much too small for such a large event.

He's having a party in his basement.

His basement is huge, and he's decked it out in lights and such that he's hatched. All of it has a New Years theme, somehow; Levi's good at throwing parties, he knows how to decorate. The room is basically like a nightclub. It's dark, but clear of most beams and supports; there are couches and chairs, and a bar to the far end, stocked with just about every type of alcohol imaginable (as well as a few different types of blood). Here and there, there's potted plants and trees in clumps, as well as a giant throne, surrounded by those plants, further along on the back wall. There's also a large stage towards the middle, with a dancing space out in front of it. And right above the stage is a giant clock, which Levi had set up earlier for the countdown later that night.

As for music, he's got a whole playlist, just waiting to be started. It's a huge mix of things, from pop-y dance music to slow songs for the couples. There's a few setlists, of sorts, pinned to the walls and the bar.

It's about ten minutes before the party arrives, and Levi is waiting impatiently.

[[ooc: Vaguely organized planning post here! If there's a song you suggested and you want it to be played, it will be. Just handwave it. So yes! Have fun. :D

EDIT: Subthread labeled for the countdown to midnight is up! Grab your date and tag there for kissy tiemz. :3]

"I feel like I'm in costume," Siri admitted, plucking at the skirt of the red dress with her fingers. "I've never worn a dress before."

Which was probably silly for a girl. All girls wore dresses-- all girls who didn't spend the whole of their lives within the Jedi Order. But here, that was rarer than back home considering she was the only Jedi in Taxon.

Siri shook the offered hand. "A pleasure."

She hadn't seen the doctor since their run in before Christmas with the glitching mistletoe, but to someone like the blonde knight, his presence was the closest to overtly familiar as she'd get in this place and though she could've continued to play wallflower all night, she opted to approach him. Siri Tachi wasn't a coward and she certainly didn't hide from that awkward feel in the air. The fact that she was still willing to be around Obi-Wan after what had happened between them was evidence enough of that.

"Doctor."

Cordelia checks for a pulse and sighs in relief.

"Okay. You passed the 'life' test. Hello! You guys have the same face and everything since she didn't come all undead-ho like and grrr and--"

God. That was close. That version of Buffy could have invited her out and Cordelia would have gladly went along because hello, Buffy. "Can't you get a tattoo on your forehead or something? Like... like a cross? Just so innocent people can tell you two apart!"

The God King may be donning Fred's appearance, but her presence still feels the same to the Force-sensitive woman. Curious about why Illyria is making herself look like a human instead of the blue demon she had seemed so proud to be, Siri approaches.

"Trying out a new look?"

[identity profile] revivedqueen.livejournal.com 2010-01-02 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
The smile on her face feels even more forced, now.

Illyria turns her gaze on the woman beside her. "What do you mean?" she says, innocently looking down at her form and even smoothing out her dress. "Oh, gosh - do you think this is too revealing? Oh, I knew I should have worn something else."

[identity profile] undoing.livejournal.com 2010-01-02 01:27 am (UTC)(link)

Angel happily returns that embrace, wrapping his arms around her form for the duration of the hug. He wanted to kiss her, but held back, weary of those in the room who would take the new nature of their relationship as shock (and possibly negatively react, too) and not wanting to take them by surprise like that just yet.

"See? I can wear something that isn't black." ...though as soon as this party was over, he was probably going to go back to his dark hues.

Technically, Buffy should probably be apologizing to Eric, but apologizing to Eric's Maker is just as good, if not better, whether or not Buffy knows it. In vampire circles, if one does harm to a vampire not yet released by their Maker, it isn't unusual for their Maker to be the one to demand compensation or retribution. Buffy isn't offering compensation or retribution, but Godric is willing to accept an apology.

"Apology accepted." The words come with ease. As apologies go, Buffy's is both formal and well-said, and that's enough to temper any stale feelings Godric might still be nursing. "And I apologize for kidnapping your sister. It was...not a terribly mature response."

Fun, but not terribly mature. What? Even 2,000-year-old vampires can be hit by fits of childish vindictiveness.

[identity profile] likeajoan.livejournal.com 2010-01-02 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
"Thank you," she grins, possibly blushing a tiny bit at the compliment. "Oh, that's good, so did I." And this next bit is somewhat conspiratorial, and quite a lot dry amusement. "Think I already managed to piss off our vampire host, too. It might be a personal record."

[identity profile] undoing.livejournal.com 2010-01-02 01:34 am (UTC)(link)

Angel wouldn't mind answering the question if it was asked. His age really isn't something secret-- physical or technical age. Young he may look, but he's far from it. He just happened to be turned at such an age. It was something that amused him when it came to Spike since William was turned when he was older than Liam, but Angel was a good century older than the bleach-blonde vampire.

"Honey?" The more he speaks to Levi, the more the man reminds him of Lorne sans horns and green complexion. He's detoured from those thoughts, however, byt the suggestion that he should go ask Cordelia to dance. "I know she won't. ...are we that obvious?"

[identity profile] glowingseer.livejournal.com 2010-01-02 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
Ditto on the weary feeling. Cordelia contents herself with cupping his face and brushing her thumbs against his cheeks before stepping back and casting a hopefully subtle look around the room. Still, she gives him a radiant smile when she looks at him again.

"Yes, I saw and I am now very much a believer in non-black wearing you." And she will be twining her fingers with his. "By the way, when Mandy plays later tonight? It's your cue to dance with me."

[identity profile] tiberiuskirk.livejournal.com 2010-01-02 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
"Lieutenant," Kirk offers, holding out a small shot glass (shot of Jack, just like the one she ordered back at the bar in Iowa and didn't get to drink due to that fight he'd started with Cupcake) to her that he'd grabbed from the bar. He'd avoided speaking to her after she'd initially de-glitched, though he took note of it, being unsure of whether she remembered the mistletoe-induced kiss they'd shared and not knowing what to say.

Well, if she remembered, he'd find out soon.

[identity profile] tiberiuskirk.livejournal.com 2010-01-02 01:42 am (UTC)(link)

Kirk throws a somewhat weary look in Levi's direction and clears his throat awkwardly, shifting from one foot to the other. "Yeah, we've met. I think he was...uh, hitting on me."

Wait.

"Vampire? Did not know that. Your type of vampire or the Fangtasia variety?"

[identity profile] sirachi.livejournal.com 2010-01-02 01:48 am (UTC)(link)

"You should know that the auras of individuals don't change with their looks." It helped give her away when Anakin Skywalker had blown her cover when she was masquerading as a slave trader in attempt to take down slaving routes. Many could hide their presences if they were good enough, but masking it was something entirely different that Siri wasn't even sure Master Yoda knew how to do. "Yours is particularly bright, strong, and unmistakable."

However, seeing as Siri doesn't consider Illyria a threat and doesn't see the harm in her donning the appearance of someone she's (assumingly) not, only merely curious as to why, she adds, "I won't say anything."

[identity profile] undoing.livejournal.com 2010-01-02 01:52 am (UTC)(link)

For now, he's content himself with the holding of her hand, which is innocent enough and easier to excuse as something else should someone ask-- not that he's looking to lie. He's not ashamed of being with Cordelia, only concerned for how others will react and in turn, treat her. Angel doesn't want her to receive any negative attention for being with him, but such may just be unfortunately inevitable.

His eyebrows shot up in surprise. "You added that to the song list? Cor, you didn't have to. I'm well aware of how much in favor Barry Manilow is not with the majority of the population and I don't think that's going to change here."

[identity profile] likeajoan.livejournal.com 2010-01-02 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
"You're very welcome, and no no-- it's not too much. I'd call it exactly the right amount, actually." This was a firm nod of approval here, before she continued, looking slightly sheepish. "I'm sorry, by the way, if I was a little weird the other day. I think there was something making people extra-peppy."

[identity profile] revivedqueen.livejournal.com 2010-01-02 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
A memory of Wesley demanding why she has changed her appearance to Fred's flashes, and Illyria levels a serious gaze at the Jedi.

"I appear as I choose," she says, repeating the line. "I thought this form will be more appropriate, for this gathering of inferiors."

[identity profile] ltnuhura.livejournal.com 2010-01-02 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
Lucky for Kirk, Uhura was still pretty fuzzy on most of the details about what had happened during her glitch. She did remember that she'd argued with him, though, and was glad to see he was willing to speak to her.

"Thank you, Captain," she answered, taking the offered shot and smiling at him. "How are you this evening?"

[identity profile] ltnuhura.livejournal.com 2010-01-02 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, you look quite nice," she said with another smile as she shook the woman's hand. "The color really suits you."

[identity profile] glowingseer.livejournal.com 2010-01-02 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
She squeezes his hand. "Oh, who cares about them? I'm in charge of the music and knowing that you're fond of Manilow and the rest of us aren't? Isn't going to stop me from giving you at least one thing to enjoy in this party." Then Cordelia smiles coyly at him. "Or two."

[identity profile] likeajoan.livejournal.com 2010-01-02 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
Excuse her one moment, she needs to do the jaw-drop thing.

"He was what?" She's not sure whether to laugh or be seriously indignant about this.

"And yes, he's a member of the undead contingent-- not my kind, though. Not Fangtasia kind either, or at least I don't think so. I sort of... messed with him when he arrived. And then he was one of the people I kissed on that glitch, and it's all a little, umm. Complicated. I'm playing nice tonight though, strictly off the job."

Godric takes Levi's hand -- something that makes a profound statement, in Godric's world, about what kind of esteem Godric holds Levi in -- and leads him out to the dance floor. He can feel the excitement rolling off of Levi, and though Godric is a creature of stillness, he finds it infectious. The music isn't his favorite kind, but he's nothing if not adaptive, and he's kept up with current trends. The music has a beat, and he knows how to dance to it.

Give him a sec, Levi, he'll be more composed in a jiff.

"Everyone could always use more cheer," Glitch replied with a chuckle and tugged on one of his curls. There was a pause, and a frown. "Well. Maybe not like wreaths and and and those berries that make you kiss people. Not that kind of cheer."

Yes, he was blocking that. All of that. A lot.
